Mudavadi to open Kisumu agricultural show Friday

The Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, will officially open the 2023 Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Kisumu Regional Show at the Mamboleo Show Grounds in Kisumu County on Friday.

This is the first time Mudavadi will be visiting Kisumu on an official visit following his appointment to the position.

The theme for this year's ASK Kisumu show is "Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth" which aligns with the government's commitment to sustainable economic development.

The event which was normally held yearly had failed to take place due to the Covid-19 pandemic for the last three years.

The event was last held in the lakeside city in 2019 at the ASK grounds at Mamboleo.

A pre-show event was held at the grounds on Tuesday ahead of the official opening on Friday.

The show’s chief steward Rose Omondi said at least 150 exhibitors had confirmed participation.

The exhibitors from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will showcase various products, technologies and services during the five-day event, she said.

Showgoers were urged to turn up in large numbers to learn from the exhibitors and share ideas from different sectors.
