The Kenya Kwanza government has backdated the mandatory contribution towards the Housing Fund proposed in the Finance Act, 2023 to July 1.

This comes after the Court of Appeal lifted the suspension of the conservatory orders barring the implementation of the contentious Finance Act, 2023.

This paves the way for the implementation of new tax measures.

President Ruto to tour Konza Technopolis in Makueni

President William Ruto will on Thursday head to Ukambani region, Makueni County.

He will award the charter to the Open University of Kenya and tour Konza Technopolis.

The government is set to open the Kenya National Open University by September this year at Konza Technopolis as one of its flagship projects.

1,000 police inspectors promoted in mass promotions

Over 1,000 police officers of the rank of inspector have been promoted in changes in the National Police Service.

They include 381 from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, 471 from the Kenya Police and more than 200 from the Administration Police.

DCI intensifies probe at City Hall over suspected fraud

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations will on Thursday head to city hall as they continue with investigations linked to payments made to a number of firms.

DCI said the Nairobi County government is alleged to have fraudulently made payments to nine companies yet no services were rendered. 

On Wednesday, the DCI carted away crucial documents at City Hall.

Fourth witness in Sh63bn dam case to take stand

The fourth witness in the corruption case against former Treasury CS Henry Rotich and nine others will today take to the stand as the hearing of the matter proceeds.

The third prosecution witness Isaac Mbugua concluded his testimony on Wednesday after he recanted part of his evidence saying he now understands more than he had indicated in his affidavit.

Taxi driver in Sharon murder case takes stand

A taxi driver who allegedly ferried the late Sharon Otieno continues to be cross-examined today.

On Wednesday, he cast doubts on the evidence of the key witness in the trial.

Mombasa Chief officers set to be sworn in

Stage is now set for the swearing-in of new Mombasa Chief Officers after MCAs approved the nomination of 15.

The approved list is now expected to be taken to Governor Abdulswamad Nassir where he will set a date for swearing in the new Chief Officers
