National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has mourned the death of Njoro MP Charity Kathambi's husband, David Chekwony.

Wetang'ula said Chepkwony's death has left him in shock, as he prayed for God's comfort to the family and friends.

"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Family of Charity Kathambi Chepkwonyi for the passing of her husband, and to the entire Njoro constituency during these profoundly challenging moments. Please accept my condolences on behalf of the National Assembly members and our staff," he said.

"Human loss and the intense suffering that ensues has left us all deeply shocked and dismayed. May God grant her solace and strength during this time of affliction."

David Chepkwony passed away last week. The cause of death remains unknown.

"My heartfelt condolences my sister @HonKathambi for the loss of your husband Mr David Chepkwony. May the Almighty God give you strength and peace beyond human understanding. I want to encourage you that the Lord is faithful, he will uphold you and encourage you," former Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri said in his message to the family.

Charity Kathambi is a second-term member of the National Assembly and the first female MP for Njoro Constituency.
