Siaya Governor James Orengo has said Azimio la Umoja governors will boycott the Council of Governors meeting with President William Ruto over the withdrawal of their security.

The meeting is set to take place next week in Eldoret and will be presided by President William Ruto.

Speaking on Friday during the requiem mass of protest victims in Siaya County, Orengo said Azimio governors will convene a meeting to resolve to boycott the event.

"We cannot sit down with someone who took away security from Baba. We as Azimio will have a meeting so that we resolve that we cannot go into a meeting presided by Ruto while he has taken away the security of our leader," Orengo said.

He said that it was for that reason that they could not attend the meeting.

The Siaya Governor added that it was only Azimio governors and other politicians within the party who had no security.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on July 30 said the government will reinstate the security detail of Azimio leaders after three months

Gachagua made the revelation saying the security will be reinstated after the government is sure there will be no street demonstrations.

"I'm sorry your security was taken away. Your officers were taken to deal with demonstrators. Your officers will be returned to you after three months when we are sure there are no demos," he said.
