Kileleshwa Ward representative Robert Alai now says that he will not attend the devolution conference set for next week.

This will be the eighth conference, since the devolved units came into effect in 2013.

According to Alai, he will the conference will not be complete without Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

He insisted that Raila is the "father of Devolution" and the only way he will attend is if he is invited.

Alai said that Raila should be allowed to share his thoughts on devolution since coming to operation.

"Baba Raila Odinga is the father of Devolution. You might not support him but there is no proper Devolution Conference without Baba Raila Odinga. Omiyo, I am not attending #DevolutionConference2023 unless we be honest and invite Raila so as to also share with us his thoughts on devolution 13 years later," Alai said.

The conference will be held at the Eldoret Sports Club, between August 15 and 19.

Top guests expected at the conference include President William Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has previous attended the Devolution conference where he gave his views and recommendations on devolution.
