Azimio laments over lateness by Kenya Kwanza team for bipartisan talks

The Azimio technical team in the bipartisan talks has lamented lateness by the Kenya Kwanza side.

The teams according to Fred Okang'o from the Azimio side, were supposed to meet at 9 am but almost an hour later none of the Kenya Kwanza team members had showed up.

This is supposed to be the first meeting by the technical teams from both sides of the bipartisan talks.

"Azimio Technical Team to the Bipartisan talks already at BOMAS waiting for our KK counterparts. We were supposed to have a joint meeting at 9 am. It is now 9:57 am," Okang'o said in a tweet.

Azimio coalition had picked four members to will sit in the dialogue technical team. They include Jeremiah Kioni -Team Leader, Adams Oloo, Zein Abubakar and Isabel Githinji.

The Kenya Kwanza Alliance settled on lawyer Muthomi Thiankolu, Linda Musumba, Nick Biketi and Duncan Ojwang’ as their technical team representatives in the talks.

The technical teams will assist the bipartisan teams led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka (Azimio) and National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah (Kenya Kwanza).

The team held it's first meeting on Friday, at the Bomas of Kenya.

The issues set for discussion include the cost of living, audit of the 2022 Presidential Election Results, restructuring and reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and related matters, measures to prevent interference with political parties, and outstanding constitutional matters - governance issues, adequate checks and balances, and the question of boundaries delimitation, for Azimio.

The Kenya Kwanza team had also listed their five issues including the reconstitution of the IEBC Commission, implementation of two-thirds gender rule, entrenchment of the Constituency Development Fund and the establishment, entrenchment of the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and embedment of the Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary.
