Political analyst Herman Manyora now says President William Ruto should save himself from his Economic Adviser David Ndii.

According to Manyora, Ndii who chairs the president's economic council has not helped the head of state.

He claimed that Ndii's advice is not helping the president and the country at all.

"David Ndii’s pata potea economics is not helping Ruto. Ndii is idealistic, egoistic. Ndii said the Shilling will go down to around 120 to a dollar, but as we get to the payment day the dollar is dangerously moving to 150. Dear Ruto, save yourself from Ndii," Manyora said on Monday.

The political commentator was reacting to an announcement by Treasury that the government would back down on a fuel import credit scheme it had entered with the gulf countries.

Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u said the government would instead allow private sector players, including oil marketing companies, banks, and credit insurance providers, to run the scheme.

The decision followed concerns by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), that Kenyans would bear the burden of currency related costs.

The agreement was meant to ease pressure on the forex demand and help prop the battered shilling by delaying payments for six months besides allowing local firms to pay the three fuel importers in shillings.

The agreement would see the Treasury provide comfort letters to exporters and local banks for fuel purchases from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates by designated oil importers.

Kenya has been facing a dollar shortage and this had contributed to rising prices of fuel in the country.
