Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has commended Chief Justice Martha Koome for opening the first High Court Registry in Northern counties areas.

"Great job Madam CJ for opening the High Court Registry in Mandera," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Koome officially launched the  e-filing, the Alternative Justice Systems (AJS) Action Plan, the Maslaha AJS Centre and a High Court Registry in Mandera

This is to enhance easy access to Justice.

It was revealed that the  Electronic Filing system will operate in Mandera, El Wak and Takaba Courts.

Lawyer Ahmednasir noted that  Mandera, Wajir, Maralal and Lamu are four out of 47 counties that do not have High Courts.

He urged CJ Koome to prioritise and ensure that people from the above regions get access to justice.

"Access to justice for historically marginalised ethnic communities should be prioritised by the Chief Justice and the Judicial Service Commission.

"CJ should be congratulated for taking the final step to ensure these four counties will have a High Court," Ahmednasir added.

On her part, CJ Koome said the judiciary was keen to actualise the dream of having courts closer to the people of Mandera.

"As a first step to actualise this goal, I officially designated and gazetted a High Court Sub-Registry at Mandera Law Courts on the 7th of August of this year," she said.

Komme said that the judiciary will continue working closely with County Governments, particularly in the area of securing land and developing physical infrastructure to house our courts in constituencies that do not have court stations.
