Former Defence Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eugene Wamalwa has attacked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for telling the Western region that they have received their 30 per cent as pledged by President Ruto during campaigns.

Last week on Sunday, during the Interdenominational prayer meeting in Bungoma, the DP told off National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula who requested more positions for the Western region.

The DP said that the region has received enough.

Speaking in Bungoma over the weekend at a funeral service, Wamalwa disagreed with the DP saying that the Western region is huge and the positions that the appointments that they have received are less than 30 percent as the DP purports.

“Gachagua should know that the Western region includes five counties, and the state should consider adding more appointments to this region,” Wamalwa stated.

In the bipartisan talks, Wamalwa said that the high cost of living is one of the agenda to be discussed.

“Our Kenya Kwanza counterparts had suggested that we drop the high cost of living issue in the talks arguing that the finance bill already passed and that the cost of living will be of no importance but my Azimio colleagues insisted that we must discuss it,” he said.

Wamalwa argues that the high cost of living was the main reason for the demonstrations.

He added that from next week, members of the public are expected to submit their memorandums to the dialogue committee.
