The Jubilee Party has dismissed as false a section of media reports that the National Delegates Convention convened by party leader Uhuru Kenyatta on May 22 has been declared null and void by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal.
In a statement on Facebook shortly after the news was broken, the former ruling party flagged the news as fake and sought to put the record straight.
"That is not the case and nothing could be further from the truth. The Political Parties Dispute Tribunal majority merely ruled that the tribunal did not have the jurisdiction to hear or rule on this case," the party said.
This technically therefore means, the stay orders issued by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal on June 14 following the party's Internal Dispute Resolution Committee's decision to dismiss Uhuru as party leader has been lifted.
"We urge media houses to be more diligent and interrogate facts before rushing to publish," Jubilee said.
On June 2, the Jubilee Party Internal Dispute Resolution Tribunal declared as null and void the notice that convened Uhuru's NDC in May.
But on June 14, the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal upheld the party's Internal Dispute Resolution Committee's decision to dismiss the retired President as party leader.
The battle for the heart and soul of the former ruling party is currently a matter before the High Court after Uhuru's men filed an application to block their removal from office.
It followed a ruling by the Political Parties Dispute Resolution Tribunal that embattled Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, Vice Chairperson David Murathe and Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi were legally kicked out by a rival faction led by EALA MP Kanini Kega.
The three are some of Uhuru's most trusted confidants who played an instrumental role in President Ruto's ejection from Jubilee in February 2022.
