Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has broken the silence over claims by Meru MCAs to introduce a second impeachment motion against her.

The MCAs said the impeachment motion is being crafted and will be tabled in the assembly soon.

On her Facebook handle, on Thursday, the Governor reacted to the matter by calling out the name of Jesus.

"Good morning. It shall be well in Jesus Mighty Name," Mwangaza said.

She was reacting to the Star cartoon which had a drawing of her and the Meru MCAs.

Last year, Meru MCAs made a similar move but hit a snag after the Senate saved her from ouster on December 30.

This was after 67 of the 69 MCAs that were present in the Meru County Assembly impeached her on December 14 on five grounds including abuse of office just 64 days after she assumed office.

Mwangaza pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The 11-member Senate special committee chaired by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale said none of the 62 allegations levelled against her were substantiated.

However, new disputes have arisen between Mwangaza and her deputy, Isaac Mutuma, with legislators.

Early this week, at least 33 MCAs from the County Assembly have vowed to support the impeachment motion against Governor  Mwangaza.

The  MCAs said the impeachment was in the best interest of the county

The number includes 20 MCAs from the Devolution Empowerment Party, 10 from the Jubilee Party, and three from the NOPEU Party.

They have warned other leaders not to interfere with internal matters of the county.

"Apart from not respecting other leaders, Mwangaza is also accused of using Okolea to intimidate other leaders. There have been questions over how she will be able to separate the programme from her official governor duties," Meru Majority leader Evans Mawira said.

Last Sunday, angry residents at Makiri in Igembe South constituency protested and set mattresses on fire that Governor Kawira Mwangaza had gone to donate to the public.

They also slaughtered a cow that she was to present to a needy family.

Businesses were disrupted in the town as supporters of the county boss engaged in stone-throwing contests with a rival group.

Police said an unknown number of people were injured during the chaos.

So far, 10 people have been arrested over the chaos.
