A man who allegedly invited his wife to his house to discuss their daughter's graduation before scalding her body with hot water following an argument has been charged in court.

Dalmas Mukhanga faced charges of grievous harm, as per the law, before Kibera Chief Magistrate Ann Mwangi but he denied the charges.

The court heard that on September 29, in the Kawangware area, the accused person caused permanent injuries to Velma Khasungu.

The woman was rushed to the hospital and received treatment after the alleged attack.

In court, the accused person downplayed the accusations. The prosecution did not object to his release on bond but requested that the court grant a substantial bond due to the seriousness of the offense.

It is alleged that the complainant had paid the accused person a visit to discuss their daughter's upcoming graduation, as they were familiar with each other as husband and wife.

He was released on a bond of Sh 300,000 with the surety of the same amount.
