Blinken to visit Israel and Palestine

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Israel today in a show of support for the country - he is also due to meet the Palestinian president, officials say.

Essential supplies of food, fuel and water must be allowed to reach civilians in Gaza under Israeli bombardment and blockade, says the UN secretary-general.

Palestinian health officials say 1,200 people have died in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.

The toll from the Hamas weekend attack is also 1,200, Israeli officials say.

Ruto to grace Turkana Tourism and Cultural Festival

President William Ruto is expected to grace the Turkana Tourism and Cultural Festival.

The festival is meant to promote peaceful coexistence among the Ateker communities.

The Ateker communities include Turkana, Iteso of Kenya, Karamoja, Jie of Uganda and Topsa of South Sudan and Nyangatom, Merile from Ethiopia

DJ Brownskin's case on wife's suicide starts

The hearing of the case against Michael Macharia Njiiri popularly known as DJ Brownskin who is accused of aiding his wife's suicide will start today.

Brownskin has denied the charges of aiding the suicide of his wife Sharon Njeri Mwangi on July 29, 2022.

He faced a second count of failing to use all reasonable force to prevent his wife from dying by suicide although he knew that she was planning to take away her life.

Hearing of Sh200m condemned sugar theft resumes today

Elsewhere, the hearing of the Sh200 million condemned sugar theft resumes today after an adjournment on Wednesday following the indisposition of a witness.

The hearing of the theft charges against the suspended Kenya Bureau of Standards boss Bernard Njiraini and seven others failed to proceed because the witness who was to take to the stand was taken ill.
