Judicial Service Commission advertises 20 posts for High Court Judges

The Judicial Service Commission has invited qualified persons to apply for the 20 vacant posts in the office of the Judge of the High Court.

This follows a declaration of the vacancies via a Gazette notice dated October 6, 2023.

All applications must reach the Commission no later than November 3, at 5 pm.

"Interested and qualified persons are requested to make their application by filling an Online Application for Employment Form available at the Commission's jobs portal," the JSC notice reads.

"They should upload soft copies of documents including a letter of application, and a detailed and updated CV summarising their bio-data including community service, financial discipline and pro-bono activity."

The CV should also include details on involvement as a party in litigation and involvement in political activity including financial contribution to politicians if any, and criminal record.

Further, it should include details on legal education and legal practice for the last five years.

They should list three professional references and two character references who can verify and comment on their past and present employment.

The JSC requested that the applicants provide updated emails and phone numbers of the references.

Applicants should also upload their recent coloured passport-sized photo and copies of testimonials, professional certificates, academic transcripts and certificate of admission to the roll of advocates.

Further, those interested should submit their declaration of income and liabilities as at the time of application, using the prescribed forms.

The Declaration of Income and Liabilities Form JSC 2b can be downloaded from the JSC website - www.jsc.go.ke- Careers.

"Public Officers should attach copies of returns of declarations of income, asset and liabilities for the last three declarations," the JSC said.

"Those in private practice should attach audited accounts and tax returns for the last three years."

Applicants are also required to upload five samples of any professional writings, including but not limited to judgements and advocacy submissions in courts.

They can also submit scholarly writings or any legal publications that they have authored.
