16,821 passports ready for collection from October 23

The passports will be collected from the immigration regional offices.

The national passport delivery will continue into the third week, with 16,821 passports ready for collection from Monday.

It will be the fifth week of the Rapid Results Initiative (RRI).

The Ministry of Interior has announced that the passports will be collected from the immigration regional offices from  October 23 to Friday, October 27, 2023.

In Nairobi, 7,500  passports will be ready for collection at Nyayo House, 1,725 in Eldoret, 1, 771 in Embu, and 1,501 in Kisii.

In Nakuru, 1,002 passports are ready while 1,547 have been printed and awaiting collection in Mombasa. 

In Kisumu, the department said 1,262 passports are ready for collection next week.

For the first week of RRI, which was between September 25 - 29, some 22,353  were delivered to regional centers to be collected by Kenyans.

Some 15, 354 passports were dispatched in the second week of October 2 and 6.

This week,  13, 290 passports are currently being collected from Monday, October 16, to Thursday, October 19.

The government warned that passports that stay uncollected after their stipulated period of collection will be disposed of and the owners penalised in accordance with the law.

The uproar prompted Parliament to summon him for an explanation where Kindiki admitted that corruption was endemic at the Immigration Department but vowed to crash the cartels.

The CS banned boda boda riders and idlers around immigration offices and declared the area a corruption-free zone.
