The Judicial Service Commission has announced a vacancy for the position of Chief Registrar of the judiciary.
JSC said they had called for applications from qualified individuals.
The position is set to become vacant on January 13, 2024.
According to JSC, the appointment will be made in accordance with article 161(2)(c) of the Constitution, as read with Section 9 of the Judicial Service Act, 2011.
"Interested and qualified persons are asked to visit our job portal:https://www.jsc.go.ke/index.php/careers/ for a detailed job description, requirements for appointment and instructions on how to apply," JSC said.
"All applications should reach the commission not later than November 13, 2023, at 5 pm."
Some of the duties of the Chief Registrar of the judiciary include preparing estimates of expenditure and submitting them for National approval.
The Chief Registrar is also expected to administer the Judiciary Fund and act as the secretary to the Judicial Service Commission and National Council for Administration of Justice.
They are entrusted with performing judicial functions vested in the Chief Registrar by law and are authorized to exercise powers as per any law or regulation while adhering to the directions of the Chief Justice.
The Chief Registrar of the Judiciary is an authorized officer responsible for efficiently managing day-to-day operations and the administration of Human Resources in the Judicial Service.
This role includes overseeing support services, particularly in the planning, development, and organization of staff.
Additionally, they monitor and enhance administration and office procedures to maximize efficiency and the quality of service provided.
The Judicial Service Commission was established under Article 171 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, with a mandate to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and ensure the efficient, effective, and transparent administration of justice.
