The Kenya Railways has announced the suspension of some Nairobi Commuter Railway Services for five routes.

In a Notice on Wednesday, the suspension takes effect from Thursday, December 21, 2024, until January 2, 2024.

"We wish to inform customers that the Nairobi Commuter Rail Services to Ruiru, Embakasi Village, Limuru, Lukenya and Syokimau will be suspended from 21st December 2023 till 2nd January 2024," the management's notice read in part.

The management did not disclose the reason for the closure.

However, being a festive season, many Kenyans have travelled upcountry hence it is a slow season for the Nairobi Commuter Rail services.

At the same time, the Kenya Railways announced areas where its services will be available.

They include the Link train operating between Nairobi Central Railway station and Nairobi Terminus serving Madaraka Express Passenger Service customers.

Others are the Nanyuki Safari Train, the Kisumu Safari Train, the Suswa Leisure Train and the Madaraka Express Passenger Service train

"We take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a happy festive season," the Management stated.
