PS Omollo: Femicide is criminal act we must commit to end

Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has condemned the rising femicide cases in the country.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with other PSs, Omollo said violence against women is an everyday reality.

"The rising cases of abuse of women is an appalling human rights violation and criminal act that we must commit to end," Omollo said.

Omollo held the meeting with the PS for Gender and Affirmative Action, Anne Wang'ombe and the PS for Higher Education and Research Betty Muganda.

In a post on X, Omollo said they held the consultative meeting to discuss the concerns about femicide in the country and lawful ways of protecting women against possible predators.

The PS also said they discussed the best ways of protecting Kenyan women from possible predators.

On Saturday, women in Kenya took to the streets to demonstrate the killings of other women.

The protests, dubbed 'Total Shutdown KE' took place across several major towns in the country including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Isiolo, Nyeri, Busia and Eldoret.

In Nairobi, the march started from Jeevanjee Gardens at 10 am. Women and men from across all walks of life marched across the city's CBD calling for an end to femicide.
