KeNHA: Kinale traffic on Nairobi-Nakuru highway worsening

The Kenya National Highways Authority has issued updates on the traffic situation at Kinale Forest area near Soko Mjinga on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

KeNHA said the heavy traffic is worsening as motorists are overlapping.

Rains pounding the area appear to have worsened the situation that has seen motorists stuck on either side of the stretch around Kinale Forest for hours nows.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority reports that the traffic situation between Kijabe and Soko Mjinga along the Nairobi - Nakuru Highway is worsening due to overlapping," the Authority said in a statement.

KeNHA advised motorists to avoid overlapping to ease the traffic congestion.

KeNHA advised motorists planning to travel on the route to either delay their plan or use alternative routes.

Photos posted on social media by motorists plying the route showed packed vehicles along the stretch.

“Residents have blocked the highway and traffic has snarled up. If you haven’t passed Rironi, just use Maai Mahiu Road. If you are at Flyover, use Kamwangi-Thika road,” one motorist said.

The traffic had stretched to almost Kikuyu town junction on the busy highway relied on by travellers from North Rift and Nyanza.
