Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has explained why together with President William they love Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o.

Speaking on Saturday when he graced a women empowerment event organised by the legislator, Gachagua said it is because he is a leader with a plan and the interests of his constituents.

The DP said that despite being worried that he had defeated their close friend to become Lang'ata MP, they love him because he loves his people and has a vision of what he wants for them.

"Mlichagua kiongozi ambaye ako na sera, ako na mipango na ako na maono na Rais wetu amekuja kumpenda huyu kijana na mimi nimempenda huyu kijana zaidi kwa sababu ako na mipango ya kazi na anapenda watu wake," Gachagua said.

This loosely translates to, "You elected a leader who has policies, plans and vision and our President has come to love this young man (Jalang'o) and I have loved this young man even more because he has work plans and loves his people."

Gachagua explained that the MP is always looking for the President to help him with development-related issues in his constituency.

He added that whenever Jalang'o is unable to reach the President, he goes to the deputy president.

"Kila siku ako pale kwa Rais, akimkosa anakuja kwangu kwa mambo ya maendeleo ya Lang'ata." (Every day he is at the President's, if he doesn't find him he comes to me for the development of Lang'ata.)

The DP spoke on Saturday when he joined women groups from Lang'ata constituency for funds drive at the Nyayo Stadium.

He had been invited by the Lang'ata MP as the chief guest.

Gachagua urged the women and residents of Lang'ata to support Jalang'o as their son.

The Lang'ata MP is among the opposition legislators who defied their leader and decided to work with Kenya Kwanza regime.

The move has seen him, and others receive criticism, with mounting calls from Azimio leader Raila Odinga that all ODM rebel MPs must resign and seek fresh mandates with parties affiliated to the ruling Kenya Kwanza.

Others include Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, Suba MP Caroli Omondi, Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda, and Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo.

The five MPs were expelled by ODM's National Executive Committee after the party determined that their actions went against the official party position.

They, however, moved to court to overturn the ODM NEC decision.
