A  Chief Inspector of Police based at Ruai police station in Njiru subcounty, Nairobi County, on Wednesday, lost his life in a river.

Cyprian Walunya Kasili tragically drowned after his vehicle was submerged in River Kware.

The body of the officer was found after members of the public reported that a motor vehicle had submerged at River Kware.

It was then that police visited the scene and retrieved his body.

The incident happened around 4:40 pm, Wednesday.

"It was established that he was driving back to his home in Lowland Estate within Kware Area," a police report at KBC police station, Matungulu sub-county in Machakos, stated.

At the time the report was made, the vehicle was still submerged in the river waters.

The body is being preserved at Patjud Funeral Home awaiting autopsy.
