Four police officers and two civilians who were last week arrested over theft of Sh2.2 million will today know whether they will be granted bail or detained for two weeks.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Friday asked a Nairobi magistrate court to allow detectives to detain the suspects for 14 days pending the conclusion of investigations.

The suspects are Sergent Antony Ndegwa Anwal, Corporal Daniel Lekakeny Sunkuli, Constable Simon Macharia Maina, and Constable Antony Mwenda, all police officers attached to Kasarani police station.

The others are Lukas Magwaga and Young Wakise.

They are facing three counts of stealing from a locked motor vehicle, conspiracy to commit a felony, and handling stolen property.

Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo will today rule on the DCI application to have them detained.

Elsewhere at the High Court's constitutional and human rights division, Justice Chacha Mwita will today hear a case where a foreign minister has sued his wife who lives in Kenya for involving their four minors in the production of Real Housewives of Nairobi without his consent.

The Real Housewives of Nairobi is a Kenyan reality television series that documents the personal and professional lives of several women residing in Kenya.

The minister says the filming is happening at their matrimonial home in Nairobi, Kenya where their children are.

This, he says, has become an unsuitable environment for them to be in.

“The filming and broadcasting covers aspects of my wife’s life in her marriage to me and her life as a mother to the children which I didn’t agree to," he says in court papers.
