The spouse of Deputy President Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has extended her condolences to parents mourning children who died during protests against the Finance Bill, 2024.

Pastor Dorcas wished those admitted in hospitals with various injuries quick recovery.

“With a heavy heart, grief, and sadness, I extend my deepest condolences to my fellow parents mourning the loss of our children. May God comfort and strengthen you in bearing this immense loss,” she said.

She added that the past few days have been extraordinarily painful for any mother.

“It was a unique and challenging situation, and mothers across the nation prayed fervently for reason to prevail. Our children, courageous and bold, expressed their expectations by occupying churches on Sunday," she said.

"As mothers, we prayed for the preservation of life. Yesterday, we watched in horror as children and fathers struggled to find dialogue, marking one of the saddest days for us all.”

Pastor Dorcas urged Kenyans to hold on to their faith and the strength of the community as they navigate through these trying times.

“May we find solace in each other's support and continue to pray for healing and peace. Let us take inspiration from our children, who have been coming together and supporting the injured, successfully fundraising for them,” she stated.

“Indeed, the future is in safe hands. Together, we will find the courage to move forward and honour the lives of those we have lost.”

Nairobi county Health executive confirmed on Wednesaday that at least 12 protesters died during the protests.

Health CEC Suzzanne Silantoi said at least 51 people were treated at different county hospitals and discharged.
