Ruto condoles with families, friends of dead protesters

President William Ruto has condoled with the families and friends of Kenyans who lost their lives during Tuesday’s deadly protests.

Addressing the nation from State House Nairobi, the President regretted people died during the protests.

“On my behalf, and that of MPs and other Kenyans, I send my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this very unfortunate manner,” he said.

At least 25 people have been reported dead following the clash between the police and protestors in all major towns of Kenya.

Nairobi had the biggest number of fatalities at least 20.

Some 20 others are in critical condition awaiting surgeries, according to the Kenya Medical Association.

The controversial legislation in question is aimed at raising an additional Sh346 billion in revenue to alleviate debt and reduce borrowing.

In Mombasa, three people have also been reported dead.

Ruto had on Tuesday evening sent a strong warning to the alleged planners of the chaos, saying he ensure a situation of this nature does not recur again.
