On a typical day at 9.00 am, the streets of Mombasa would be buzzing with activities.

Shops would be opened and the movement of people from one point to another would be seen in various sections of the town.

But this was not the case on Tuesday.

Despite a section of people reporting to work, tension was evident as some shops remained closed ahead of anticipated protests.

Gen Zs had announced that they would protest despite President William Ruto rejecting the Finance Bill.

The anti-finance bill protest in Mombasa was scheduled to start at 10 am.

Last week, on Tuesday, businesses were paralyzed as government buildings were vandalized by rowdy youth who came to the streets to protest.

On Thursday of the same week, things were not different as goons took advantage of the situation and started robbing innocent people and business shops along the streets.
