Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has called for sobriety amid the ongoing government restructuring exercise.

Mudavadi said President William Ruto needs all the support from Kenyans as he effects key changes in his administration.

He said the rule of law and the tenets of the Constitution will govern the whole process aimed at bringing a lasting solution to the challenges facing the country.

"President Ruto was democratically elected by the people of Kenya. He is the President under the parameters governing the leadership of the country and as per the constitutional call," Mudavadi said.

"We should at all times reflect on the spirit and letter of the constitution when raising our concerns as a people. Discipline and confining our agenda within the rule of law will make the country remain stable."

Mudavadi said peace and national unity remain the cornerstone of the country's prosperity both economically and as a democracy.

He emphasised that the President has carefully navigated the past few weeks with a listening ear to the issues that have been raised by Kenyans.

He said everything has been taken on board and action is beginning to manifest progressively.

"I want to talk about the issue of Public debt as one of the reasons why we are in the situation we are in as a country at the moment. This administration found a big hole and what we are trying to fix is not an easy exercise," he regretted.

"We cannot run away from paying the debt, we have to pay, and this has its ramifications on the stability of our economy as far as wealth and job creation is concerned. This is what we want Kenyans to understand and support the efforts the government is putting across in addressing this issue amongst many others being canvased."

Mudavadi spoke while on a tour in Elgeyo Marakwet County, where he accompanied President Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to the 8th edition of the Kaptagat Restoration and Livelihood Improvement initiative.

The Prime CS pointed out the importance of environmental conservation noting the ongoing efforts to preserve the Kaptagat Forest being a model of successful conservancy.

He lauded the efforts being spearheaded by President Ruto in tackling climate change-related matters.

"I urge all Kenyans to support the President's mission to protect the environment not only in Kenya but throughout Africa," he said.

"On the continent of Africa, President Ruto has become the champion of climate change, providing direction that influences the entire continent in environmental matters."

He called upon all citizens to uphold the constitution and respect the electoral process since we are here because Kenyans elected President Ruto to lead this nation.

"The constitution has its rules, and those rules guide our democratic processes," he asserted.

During the tour, President Ruto commissioned several key projects that underscore the government's commitment to development.

This includes the transformation of Kipsoen Technical and Vocational College into a National Youth Polytechnic, aimed at empowering the youth.

He also launched the Yokot Kapteren Integrated Dams Programme under the Kerio Valley Development Authority, designed to enhance local water supply and support irrigation.

President Ruto also launched the Kelvin Kiptum Foundation during the event, honouring the late world record holder who tragically lost his life in a road accident last year.

This foundation aims to support aspiring athletes and promote sports development in the region.

President Ruto emphasised the need for unity among Kenyans, stating, "We only have one Kenya; we cannot afford to destroy our country. Together, we must work towards peace and collaboration to ensure a prosperous future for all."

Present were Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wesley Rotich, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, and PS Chris Kiptoo among other national and local leaders.
