Hundreds of Mombasa residents have taken to the streets to celebrate the nomination of former Mombasa governor Hassan Joho as a Cabinet Secretary.

President William Ruto on Wednesday made public his final list of nominees for the positions of CSs.

Joho was nominated as the Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary while Wycliffe Oparanya was nominated as the CS for Cooperatives and MSME Development.

Both Joho and Oparanya are in the ODM party.

The residents marched along Nkurumah road to Fontannela roundabout and back to Treasury Square singing praises to Joho.

“Simba is back! Joho hoyee,” the residents chanted as they marched along the streets.

A section of Mombasa leaders are expected to address the residents at Treasury Square.
