Kenyan Youth have been offered 5000 tuition-free scholarships to study certificate courses on Artificial intelligence and business management.

The Kenyan-owned European Business Institute of Luxembourg (EBU) offered to give the scholarships through Uamuzi Foundation, a Kenyan organization, in a partnership which seeks to offer tuition-free civic education programs to empower Kenyan youth and legislators to drive positive change.

 Already EBU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Uamuzi Foundation and in the agreement, there would be 1000 scholarships for legislators to undertake online capacity-building certificate courses in Leadership.

Uamuzi Foundation developed an App that links voters to their leaders encouraging political participation through mobile phones.

It was through the App that EBU spotted them and formed a partnership to offer the scholarships to Gen Zs and politicians.

In a statement the President of EBU Dr James Muli said their tuition free civic education program include focus on youth empowerment and they are committed to empowering the youth in Kenya who are actively taking steps to hold their leaders accountable.

“Our joint effort brings you a tuition-free civic education program that offers affordable and accessible quality courses. Designed for both legislators and the youth, our program aims to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive positive change in their communities,” he said.

He said there are scholarship opportunities for the Gen Zs who will be offered tuition-free courses to ensure that financial barriers do not hinder access to education.

Mulli said their courses are designed to offer Impactful Education designed to inspire legislators and engage the youth, equipping them with the tools to lead effectively.

 “Join us in this transformative journey to create a more informed, engaged and empowered society. Together, we can make a lasting impact,” he said.

 Currently registration is going on and Gen Zs are encouraged to apply before August 1 2024.

Elvis Sitati the Founder and CEO of Uamuzi Foundation in an interview could not hide his joy for the new partnership with EBU.

He said Uamuzi was a social networking platform that was giving young people in Kenya an opportunity for them to be part of decision making process at every level of governance to have meaningful engagement amongst themselves and also with elected leaders at their convenience.

 “So today is a special day because we have signed an MOU with European Business Institute of Luxemburg where they have offered us 5000 scholarships to distribute to the young people which is fully funded and also 1000 scholarship courses for our legislators,” he said.

 He said the platform will help them engage amongst themselves and the leaders, adding that they could put the information on the platform about the courses.

Sitati said they expect more meaningful engagement among the youth to the leaders through the courses.

He said it was the beginning and they were looking to the future between EBU and the Uamuzi Foundation.
