Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now says that former National Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung'u should walk with his head high because he did great work at the ministry.

Speaking at the funeral of Susan Wanjohi in Nyandarua, Laikipia county, Gachagua said the former CS had an outstanding performance.

Wanjohi is the mother of the Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau.

He praised him for working long days and nights while he was CS.

The Deputy President added that he should always walk with his head high because of the much he achieved at the ministry.

Gachagua added that as a community, they are proud of Ndung'u.

"Thank you for outstanding performance at National Treasury. We know where you found the National Treasure. As you hand over to the new Treasury CS, walk with your head high. You worked day and night.

"We are proud of your achievement and let me tell you when one door closes, God opens another," Gachagua said.

Ndung'u was among former CSs who were present at the funeral.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi was also present.

President William Ruto dissolved his entire Cabinet on July 11, except the Prime Cabinet Secretary, who also doubles up as Foreign and Diaspora affairs CS.

In Ruto's reconstituted Cabinet, ODM chairman John Mbadi has been nominated as the next Treasury CS.
