President William Ruto now says that he has faith in Cabinet Secretary nominees from the Coast region, Hassan Joho and Salim Mvurya.

Speaking in Mombasa, Ruto said that he knows the two former governors will deliver in their ministries.

The President said that Mvurya previously managed the Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs ministry well.

The Head of state noted that Mvurya's new responsibilities will include creating jobs for the youth.

"I have faith in these two gentlemen from the Coast. Salim Mvurya managed the Blue Economy sector with great skill, I understand and I know that (Hassan) Joho will do that.

"I have also tasked Mvurya with the responsibility of being in charge of the Investments, Trade and Industry docket. His duty is to make sure Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone is operational and creates jobs for our youth," Ruto said.

The President insisted that this is the time to unite the country and to work together.

He added that this is what informed his composition of the new Cabinet.

Ruto also thanked the people of the Coast for giving him Joho and Mvurya to work towards delivering his agenda for the country.

The President is on a tour of the Coast region, especially Mombasa and Kilifi counties where he is set to launch and commission several projects.

Joho is one of four Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party politicians included in Ruto's new Cabinet.

Others are Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and MSME Development),  John Mbadi (National Treasury) and Opiyo Wandayi (Energy and Petroleum)

The recompositing of the Cabinet follows dismissal of the entire Cabinet on July 11, 2024.
