The vetting of Cabinet Secretary nominees has entered day two at Parliament.

Agriculture CS nominee Andrew Karanja was the first to be vetted by the Committee on Appointments.

The CS arrived at the Mini Chamber  County Hall, Parliament Buildings minutes before 8 am.

Aden Duale

The CS nominee for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Aden Duale was the second to appear for vetting.

This is the second time he is being vetted to join the Cabinet.

Duale previously served as CS for Defence.

Eric Muuga

The CS nominee for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Eric Muuga was the third to appear for vetting.

He revealed that his net worth is Sh31 million.

Muuga said this is made up of lands, and farming including coffee, tea, bananas and miraa.

Speaking on Friday during his vetting by the Committee on Appointments, Muuga said he does not own a car.

Davis Chirchir

The CS nominee for Roads and Transport Davis Chirchir was the 4th one to be vetted.

This is the second time he is being vetted to join the Cabinet.

He previously served as the Energy and Petroleum CS.

Roads, Transport and Public Works Cabinet Secretary nominee Davis Chirchir has put his net worth at Sh509.8 million.

Appearing before the Committee on Appointments for vetting, Chirchir says he has had “a small increase” of wealth by Sh27.6 million during the period he served as Energy CS.

In October 2022, Chirchir told the vetting committee that he was worth Sh482.2 million.

Margaret Ndungu

The CS nominee for Communication and Technology is the fifth and last nominee who will appear before the MPs for vetting today.

If approved she will make her debut appearance in Cabinet.

Appearing before the Committee on Appointments for vetting, Ndung’u said her moveable assets are worth Sh5.5 million (one car), immovable assets Sh54 million (house and land), Treasury Bills and bonds Sh25.6 million, Sacco shares Sh1 million and cash Sh11.5 million.

She is an Information Scientist with more than 20 years of work experience in research and project management gained from NGOs, the private sector and academia.

Ndung’u holds a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Nairobi (UoN).

Her doctoral thesis explored how new technologies contribute to the quality of life for low-income households in Kenya, integrating insights from both information systems and development studies disciplines.

She holds an MBA in Management Science also from UoN. For her undergraduate, Dr. Ndung’u studied BSc. in Information Sciences at Moi University.

She did her Postdoctoral Fellowship at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), in Pretoria, South Africa.
