Environment, Climate Change and Forestry CS Aden Duale has assured Kenyans that he is committed to tackling climate change, deforestation and environmental degradation.

Speaking after taking oath of office on Thursday, Duale said that Kenya faces urgent environmental challenges that require innovative solutions.

"As I assume this role, I am committed to tackling climate change, deforestation, and environmental degradation.

"Our goal is to meet our environmental targets and set a standard for sustainable development through science-based, data-driven, and involve collaboration with communities, stakeholders, and international partners," he said.

Duale said that he is fully committed to transparency, accountability and inclusivity in all activities and initiatives he will undertake as Environment CS.

He added that he will work with all stakeholders to achieve a more greener and resilient Kenya.

"By working with all levels of government, civil society, and the private sector, we can achieve a greener, more resilient Kenya.

"I look forward to engaging with you all and building a sustainable future for our country and future generations," the CS said.

Before he was moved to the Environment ministry, Duale served as Defence CS for almost two years, until President William Ruto dismissed his Cabinet on July 11, 2024.

Duale is also among 10 CS who served in the previous Cabinet.

He was among 9 CS who were approved by the National Assembly on Wednesday and sworn into office on Thursday.

Ruto urged his newly reconstituted Cabinet to make service to the people of Kenya their first and only priority.

He encouraged them to also focus on delivering and implementation of programmes that will move the country forward.

"I urge you, therefore, to go forth and from this day, focus on delivery, and dedicate your time and effort to the implementation of the various strategies, programmes, and projects that the nation’s transformation demands.

"I encourage you to make the people of Kenya your first and only priority and to never let your own interests come in the way of your duties," the President said.
