Gen Z Nane Nane protests

Thursday was marred with tear gas and running battles between police and protesters in Nairobi's Central Business District..

Dubbed 'Nane Nane' demos, Gen Z protesters relentlessly engaged police officers amid tear gas fired at them from all angles.

This was the second month since the youth-led protests began in June.

Residents in most parts of the country including Mombasa, Kisumu and several  Western Kenya towns kept off the streets.

Ruto's Cabinet takes oath 

President William Ruto's newly appointed Cabinet took the oath of office on Thursday.

The team of 19 swore to “at all times be faithful to the Republic of Kenya, obey, respect and uphold the constitution and all other laws”.

They also swore to “truly serve the people of Kenya in the office of Cabinet secretary…with honour and dignity, for the good management of the public affairs of the republic.”

MPs at the National Assembly approved their nomination except for Stella Langat who was nominated to the Gender docket.

The 1998 Terror Blast anniversary

Victims of the August 7, 1998 bombing of the US Embassy in Nairobi gathered at the memorial park to mark the 26th anniversary of the terrorist attack.

Families laid flowers to remember their loved ones who died in the attack.

At least 213 Kenyans and 12 Americans were killed in the attack orchestrated by the Al Qaeda tourist group targeting the US embassy.

Ruto, Gachagua visit Murang'a

President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua on Friday enjoyed tea in Murang'a.

They launched Last Mile Electricity Project in Kirungu Village, Kiriaini in Murang'a County.

“Kunyweni maziwa na chai msiogope,” the President was heard saying as tea was served to him.

ODM's new leaders

ODM on Friday made changes to the party's leadership during the Central Management Committee meeting chaired by party leader Raila Odinga.

ODM settled on governors Simba Arati and Abdulswamad Nassir and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi as its deputy party leaders.

The party also retained Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as secretary general and the party spokesperson.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga was picked to replace John Mbadi as the national chairman.

Rhinos ear-notched 

The Kenya Wildlife Service ear-notched 15 black and two southern white Rhinos at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Nanyuki.

The exercise was led by KWS senior assistant director, Veterinary and Capture Service, Isaac Lekolool.

The Black Rhino is classified as Critically Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and listed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna & Flora (CITES).
