Detectives are investigating the cause of death of a security guard whose decomposed body was found in his house in Kibera slums, Nairobi.

The discovery was made by his neighbours who were disturbed by a foul smell emanating from his house.

The deceased aged about 23 had not been seen for three days until August 10 evening when his body was discovered.

He lived alone at the time of the incident.

He has been reporting to work and arriving home late, locals said.

This made it difficult for the neighbours to realize he was missing or dead.

His employers also did not make efforts to trace him as they did not know where he stayed.

His mobile phone was unreachable, said Kilimani police boss Ben Kobia.

The bad smell forced the neighbours to break into the house and found the body of the deceased lying on a mattress on the floor.

Police visited the scene and processed it before moving the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

In Korogocho slums, the body of a man was found outside a local hotel on Sunday morning.

Police said they were called to the scene after the discovery of the body.

Police said there were no physical injuries noted on the body at that time.

In Kahuro, Muranga County, a man aged 52 collapsed and died at a local shopping centre.

The incident happened on Saturday night at Matharite shopping.

Police said they found his body at the scene with physical bruises on the forehead.
