Pregnant woman collapses, dies after complaining of stomach pain in Korogocho slums

Detectives are investigating an incident in which an expectant woman collapsed and died on the road in Korogocho slums, Nairobi.

The incident happened on Sunday night.

Police cited witnesses saying the woman had visited a chemist in the area complaining of stomach cramps and sought medical help.

The attendant decided to give her a painkiller and asked her to go home and seek medical help from a clinic the following day.

Witnesses said she left the facility and walked for a few metres before collapsing.

She died at the scene.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body of the said woman lying lifeless on the road.

Police say they are investigating the incident.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and probe.

Police say they have recorded such cases in informal settlements.

Elsewhere in Mtomo, Kitui County, a man identified as Robert Kimanzi, 51, was found dead in Muvinge village.

His body was found on Katse -Irira road in a pool of blood.

Police said he had multiple head injuries and beside the body was a panga that had blood stains.

It is suspected that the deceased who has a history of ailing from epilepsy and being troublesome could have been assaulted by unknown people and left to die, police said.

The body was moved to the Kyuso Subcounty Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Police say they are looking for the suspected killer.
