Triple Olympic women's 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon has advised upcoming female athletes to be disciplined as they pursue their life goals.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday, Kipyegon also urged her young sisters to embrace the virtue of patience and put in hard work in all they endeavour to do.

"Just train, be patient your time will come. Just focus and be disciplined," she said.

The Golden Girl emphasised discipline pointing out that without it, it is difficult to achieve one's dreams.

She said her career has taken shape and become successful because she has always been disciplined.

Kipyegon went on to add that talent without discipline is not rewarding.

"Discipline drives people," she said.

Kipyegon said she will be taking a break until the end of September, adding that after Thursday, she will be going back to training.

"I am going back to training for the last Diamond League and last race in New York," she said.

At the same time, Kipyegon noted of her respect for her training partner, two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge.

"He (Kipchoge) is the GOAT and I really respect him. I'm following in his footsteps. To have achieved what he as in an inspiration to me," she said.

She hailed him as still the best despite the misfortune in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Kipchoge's quest in the games came to an abrupt end at the 30km mark due to a sharp pain in his waist.

At the time, he had clocked 1:39:38, placing 71st.

At the Olympic games, Kipyegon became the first athlete in history to win Gold in the 1,500m race three times consecutively.

She was among the only two Kenyan athletes to have won at least two medals in the Paris Olympics.

The other was Beatrice Chebet who won Gold in the 5,000m and 10,000m races.
