On the radar: Ruto to preside over conferment of Eldoret to city status

President William Ruto will today preside over the conferment of the city status to Eldoret municipality.

According to the programme, the conferment ceremony will begin with the installation of the public seal of the Republic of Kenya, the procession of the conferment ceremony, the consecration of the instruments of state for national posterity and the governor’s execution of the conferment charter.

The presidential assent of the conferment charter and signing of the memento will follow.

This will be followed by affixing the public seal of the Republic, presidential proclamation and declaration of the municipality of Eldoret as the City of Eldoret and the hand-over of the charter to governors of the “nucleus” counties.

There will then be a ceremonial display of the charters, a hand-over of the memento to the host governor and a second memento to the Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Urban Development.

The next exercise will be the hand-over of other conferment instruments including the emblem of the city, flag of the city, topographical map of the city and seal of the county.

The program states that there will be a symbolic hand-over of the keys to the city to the Nucleus Counties, an air show and conferment of national honours.

Ruto to receive Paris 2024 Olympics Champions at Eldoret State Lounge

President Ruto will also host a grand reception in honour of the athletes who represented Kenya in the Paris Olympics.

The grand reception will be held at Eldoret, where the athletes have flown in the president's aircraft.

The athletes were received at the airport by Governors Jonathan Bii and Wisley Rotich along with all MPs from Uasin Gishu County and AK officials

There will be a ceremonial drive to the State Lodge for breakfast and a grand entry to the Sports Club for the inauguration of the City of Champions.

High Commission of India to celebrate 78th Independence Day of India

The High Commission of India will be celebrating the 78th Independence Day of India.

The event will start at 8 am at the India House, 151, Limuru Road in Nairobi.

The event will be followed by a Wreath laying ceremony at 10am at the War Memorial Cemetery near Nyayo Stadium.

This will be attended by the High Commissioner of India, KDF Officials and Defence Advisor of India.

The Independence Day ceremony will be concluded with a mass tree plantation drive organised by the High Commission of India in collaboration with the Earth Keepers Foundation.

The bamboo tree plantation event will be held at City Park Nairobi (opposite Aga Khan Hospital).

Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale is among those gracing the ceremony.

Machakos G7 visit to begin

Machakos's two-day G7 visit is expected to begin today with a press conference at Hilton Garden Inn Airport at 8am.

The visit will be led by Governor Wavinya Ndeti. 

Among the leaders present will be Governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Kawira Mwangaza (Meru), Susan Kihika (Nakuru), Fatuma Achani (Kwale), Cecily Mbarire (Embu) and Gladys Wanga (Homabay).

"This gathering of influential women leaders promises to be a momentous occasion, highlighting their dedication to public service and leadership in their respective counties," Machakos Public Communications Officer Joyce Gituro said.
