Police are investigating two separate incidents of suicide reported to them in Makueni and Nyandarua counties.

The first incident involved a 40-year-old woman whose body was found hanging on a tree in Wote area, Makueni County.

The woman identified as Monica Mbula Kiamuko who is a resident of the Kambu area died by suicide after hanging herself using a leso, which was tied around her neck on a tree near Royal Star Hospital.

No suicide note was found and the body was moved to the mortuary for postmortem examination.

In Ngorika, Nyandarua, a 23-year-old man died by suicide. The motive is yet to be known.

Police said Francis Maina Waweru who was a resident of Githima village died by suicide by hanging himself using a rope on one of the roof rafters of his house.

No suicide note was found and the body with no visible physical injuries was moved to JM Kariuki Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.

Cases of suicide have been on the rise amid calls to address the menace.
