President William Ruto and allies of opposition chief Raila Odinga on Wednesday hinted at a political marriage ahead of the 2027 polls.

Ruto is on a four-day tour of the Nyanza region.

Speaking in Migori on Wednesday where he launched several projects, the President gave the clearest indication yet he would unite with his former political rival in the next election.

“Now you know what is happening ……. there are things I will come to say but for now, let’s plan development,” Ruto said at Posta grounds in Migori town.

While showering Raila with praises, he reflected on his long-standing relationship with the opposition leader, acknowledging the significant role he has played in Kenya's democratic journey.

“You know Baba [Raila] and I have come a long way. I am supporting him [for the African Union Commission chairmanship],” the President said amid cheers from the ecstatic crowd.

Ruto called for unity urging Kenyans to move away from politics of tribalism and division.

“Let's abandon politics of tribalism and divisions and focus on building a united government," he said.

Ruto highlighted the efforts of his administration to form an inclusive government, inviting the people to join hands in creating a united country.

He asked residents to pray for Raila as he seeks the African Union Commission chairman seat.

Ruto was accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and several national and local political leaders.

Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi said Kenya has taken a new political turn, praising the President's decision to have an inclusive government.

"Our stand will remain firm because we decided to join you and we will support you," he said.

Governors Ochilo Ayacko (Migori), James Orengo (Siaya), Simba Arati (Kisii) and Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), and MPs, led by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, hinted at supporting the President.

“You were the deputy party leader of ODM. If they push you in UDA, come to ODM. We will take care of you,” Arati said.

Orengo said Ruto has shown respect to the region by appointing Chief of Defence forces Francis Ogola (deceased), Attorney General Dorcas Oduor, Treasury CS John Mbadi and CS Wandayi.

Ruto also delivered several goodies.

They include Sh1.6 billion set aside to connect at least 19,000 people with electricity in Migori, Sh300 million for the completion of Lower Kuja irrigation scheme and completion of the stalled Migori-Masara-Muhuru Bay road.

He also offered Sh150 million for three new landing sites in Sori, Muhuru and God Acholla.

Ruto promised to work with the Migori government and mop up all the rice so farmers can earn from the produce.

Area leaders asked for the creation of Kuria county, more appointments and completion of some  roads not mentioned by the head of state.

Earlier, Ruto launched the Kegonga Cluster Water Project in Kuria before proceeding to inspect the Lower Kuja irrigation project.
