Bomet student hacks female colleague over love affair

A student at a school in Bomet has hacked her female colleague with a panga in a suspected quarrel over a love affair.

The incident happened at a secondary school in Bomet.

The form four male student armed himself with a panga and attacked the female colleague.

The form 3 girl sustained serious injuries on the head and was admitted to the ICU at Longisa Hospital.

Police are currently at the school investigating the incident.

Bomet East police boss Joseph Chesire confirmed the incident and said the assailant fled after the incident and is being sought by police

He said the attacker was heard quarrelling with the female colleague before he drew a panga and hacked her four times.

Chesire said the incident happened in a classroom where the male student had arrived earlier than usual.

Chesire said the attacker asked the victim to explain why whenever he called her someone else picked the calls.

“He confronted the female student demanding to know why someone else picked up the calls,” said Chesire.

The school is a day institution and the two usually communicate while away from school.

Chesire says the police have been deployed to hunt down the attacker.

He said the girl was undergoing surgery at the Longisa hospital.

“We have been informed that she is in stable condition and undergoing surgery,” said Chesire

A blood stained panga has been recovered from the scene.
