Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that he is a happy man after meeting Mama Asha Sidi Chengo, a Mombasa woman he helped in April.

According to Gachagua, he was happy to see her business thriving and that her son had finally joined secondary school.

He referenced his act of kindness the the determination of the Kenya Kwanza administration to transform the lives of Kenyans.

"It was a pleasure catching up with Mama Asha Sidi Chengo, the small-scale food vendor, whom I met in April this year. I am happy that the business is thriving. Her son has finally joined Secondary School. We are committed to transforming our Nation," Gachagua said.

The Deputy President on Thursday morning visited Aisha as he made his routine morning walk along Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mombasa.

Gachagua is scheduled to preside over a series of activities in the Coastal city of Mombasa.

In April, the DP met Aisha at her roadside kiosk as he made his walk.

He would engage the woman and later on invited her to his official residence.

During their conversation, the DP elaborated that he was struck by her determination to live a dignified life and specifically offer her children quality education.

“It was, therefore, deserving to support Asha in expanding the hustle, besides education for her two teenage sons,” he said in a post.

Gachagua expressed admiration for the hard work in her business.

Gachagua particularly noted her skill in baking mandazi and her cheerful service to customers, many of whom are fellow hustlers along Mama Ngina Drive.

“In my early morning walks along Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa City, I usually notice this particular woman engrossed in baking mandazi and cheerfully serving it with tea to her customers, mostly hustlers walking to their places of work,” Gachagua said in April.

“I reached out to her to understand her drive.”
