Endarasha fire tragedy
There was anxiety and pain as Kenyans learnt of a fire tragedy that razed down a dormitory in Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri County.
The fire raged through the dormitory of the boarding school killing 21 boys who were sleeping.
More than 150 pupils were in the dormitory when it caught fire on Thursday around midnight.
Ruto, Raila in China
President William Ruto who was in China for the high-level Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit on Wednesday continued to woo other African leaders for their support in Kenya’s bid for the AUC chairmanship seat.
Kenya has fronted Raila Odinga for the seat.
Raila who is accompanying Ruto on the trip was present during the separate meetings held in Beijing.
Sakaja inspects CBD
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja took to the streets of the Central Business District (CBD) to personally inspect the progress of the ongoing walkway improvement projects.
As he walked along the newly renovated pathways, he took the time to engage with Wananchi, gathering their thoughts and feedback on the upgrades.
The Governor said the new walkways are for pedestrians, not for hawking.
Mama Rachel in China
First Lady Rachel Ruto engaged with Kenyan women professionals living and working in Beijing, China.
Rachel who accompanied the President on the China tour, urged them to contribute to Kenya’s nation-building efforts.
Gachagua in Mombasa
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua attended the induction of new Kenya Tea Development Agency directors in Mombasa.
Gachagua asked the new Kenya Tea Development Agency directors to fast-track the implementation of reforms in the tea sub-sector.
He said farmers have high expectations and the new team has no option but to move around the subsector to profitability.
Ngara inferno
There was panic in the Ngara area along Desai Road, Nairobi, on Sunday morning following a fire incident that affected a gas supply station.
The fire caused explosions as gas cylinders packed at the station went up in flames and exploded.
The huge fire razed several stalls and shops within the area before firefighters from the Nairobi County government contained it.
Traders were left counting losses from the inferno as street children salvaged items from the area.
Hasmukk Patel funeral
Leaders attended the funeral service of Mombasa Cement tycoon and philanthropist Hasmukk Patel in Mombasa County.
The procession to cremate the industrialists went through various streets in Mombasa.
The body was removed from the Pandya Memorial Hospital morgue at 8 am.
Carried in a special casket and a sitting position, the body was taken around about five Hindu temples in Mombasa.
Southern White rhino gives birth
Southern white rhino gave birth in Ruma National Park, Homa Bay County.
The Kenya Wildlife Service made the announcement noting that the development will boost the number of one of the endangered rhino species.
Homa Bay County government banks on Ruma Park, a renowned animal habitat in Kenya, as one of their main revenue earners.
Northern white rhino Sudan
The embalmed body of the world's famous northern white rhino known as Sudan has been preserved at the National Museums of Kenya
Sudan passed away in 2018, marking the extinction of his species.
Sudan's remains underwent taxidermy, an art of preserving an animal's body by mounting (over an armature) or stuffing. It is done for display or study.
Born in 1973, Sudan's story became a symbol of the fight against poaching and the race to save endangered species.
