The new Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) has re-advertised for the position of the managing director after an initial process launched in May this year was suspended.

In an advertisement, the processor has given interested candidates until September 30 to submit their applications.

“We are seeking an excellent leader with an outstanding track record in business leadership to serve as managing director,” the advert dated September 10 reads.

The ideal candidate, it states, should have a proven ability to deliver results, be visionary and innovative thinker with the capacity to build a dynamic and high-performing management team.

The new MD will replace the current acting managing director Samuel Ichura.

Ichura succeeded Nixon Sigey who has been at the helm of the processor since 2015.

The office holders serve for a term of three years and shall be eligible for re-appointment once subject to satisfactory performance and delivery of set performance targets.

The MD is also the accounting officer of the company and is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations and is in control of staff and all other activities in line with the company’s goals.

In the previous advert dated May 3, prospective candidates had been given until June 3, 2024, to submit their applications.

Sigey’s third term at the state-owned dairy processor was extended for another three years in November 2021 after ending his two-term mandate in December 2020.

To be appointed to the position, candidates must Master's Degree in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Economics, Production Processing, Law, or related fields from a recognised university and a minimum of 10 years of experience at a senior management level.

The candidate should also have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution and over 15 years of work experience in a large commercial entity, preferably in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.

A strategic leadership course or its equivalent lasting not less than four weeks is also required.
