Some ODM leaders from Marsabit County have decamped to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party.

The leaders, drawn mainly from the minority Burji community, met the UDA party leadership on Tuesday.

They announced their political decision after holding consultative talks with UDA Party Secretary General Hassan Omar at the UDA headquarters

In a statement on X, UDA said the leaders vowed to support President William Ruto's development agenda and remain loyal to the party's philosophy and leadership.

Omar said the party's manifesto has room for minority groups in the country.

He said the party created a department to look at the interests of the demographic across the country.

He said the UDA party and the government are accelerating plans to boost the potential of far-flung counties, which includes Marsabit.

Omar said the party will boost them through agriculture, trade and economic development as per its manifesto.

President William Ruto is the UDA party leader, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is the Deputy Party leader and Omar is the SG of the party.

According to UDA, it is a party founded on the principles of good governance including equity, diversity, love, unity, freedom, justice, accountability, transparency and peace.

The leadership of the party pledged to ensure a just and prosperous nation through good governance, nurturing the right political atmosphere for businesses and industries to thrive, development of human resources, foster political stability and welfare of Kenyans.

The party symbol is a wheelbarrow, symbolising “the value, dignity and respect of work in pursuit of an equitable society.”

UDA colours are yellow, black, green in white background.
