Wiper Party has moved to solidify its roots and presence across the country ahead of the next general elections set to be held in 2027.

The Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka-led party is set to launch a recruitment drive across the country.

The drive seeks to enlist five million new members, a move that will see the party stamp its authority in the next polls.

The move is also expected to give the ruling United Democratic Party (UDA) a run for its money.

Wiper, according to Young Wiper Democrats Secretary General Mbula Mutula, will focus on recruiting more Gen-Zs.

Mutula noted that it's the only party in the country that resonates with Kenyans and especially the young generation.

Speaking at a press conference in Thika on Thursday, Mutula said that currently, Wiper Party is the official opposition party in the country.

This is after Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) agreed to work with the Kenya Kwanza administration, a move that saw several ODM top brass politicians join President William Ruto's cabinet.

The SG said that the decision to market and lobby support for Wiper is aimed at strengthening the party so as to enable it better perform its duty and mandate of keeping the government in check.

"Wiper is the only party that is keeping the current regime in check. We want to popularise the party and strengthen it so as to create a strong opposition party as well as ensure that we propel our party leader to State House in 2027," Mutula said.

She said that Young Wiper Democrats party's arm that will spearhead the recruitment campaign has already overhauled its leadership.

This, she said, is to create a more inclusive, gender and regionally-balanced team to ensure the success of the campaign.

Some of the leaders voted into office include Nixon Birundu (Chairman), Mbula Mutula (Secretary General), Catherine Wambua (Treasurer) and Benedict Ngubao (Organising Secretary) among others.

Birundu said that they will adopt a door-to-door campaign strategy, exuding confidence that the exercise will be successful in all regions across the country.

"We have established a strong team that will move to every corner of this country to enlist new members. We are aware that Kenyans are ready to join a force that will champion for the rights and interests of Kenyans," Birundu said.

Birindu also noted that the drive will be key in propelling the Party leader Kalonzo to State House in 2027.

He noted that the journey to dislodge President William Ruto from the House on the Hill in the coming polls is unstoppable.

At the same time, they reiterated that Wiper is encouraging and empowering more women to step into elective leadership positions in the next general elections.
