Police are investigating an incident in which a 15-year-old student was electrocuted in Ruiru.

The incident is alleged to have been caused by a neighbour pumping water for irrigation to his land.

According to Police officers, the neighbour had connected an electric power supply to the boy's house to pump water for irrigation from river Mukuyu to his land.

Police say after he connected the power supply and went to feed his goats, he heard a scream from the riverside and switched off the power supply.

The boy was found lying on his back with his legs inside the river next to the water pump having been electrocuted, police said.

Police Officers rushed him to Ruiru Subcounty Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police Officers and KPLC personnel visited the scene, which was documented.

The body was moved to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital.
