National Heroes Council invites public views on nominees

Views and objections should be submitted within 14 days from September 24.

The National Heroes Council has called on the public to give their views on the proposed nominees for recognition as national heroes and heroines.

The council in a notice on Tuesday said the names and details of all the people who have been nominated can be accessed from the council's website www.heroes.go.ke.

"Members of the public who are of the opinion that the proposed honour to a nominee is not deserved are hereby invited to avail any objections and representations," the council's chairman Jimmy Angwenyi said.

Some of those nominated for recognition include former Red Cross Secretary General Abbas Gullet, General (Rtd) Daudi Tonje, ex-Taveta MP Naomi Shaban and Anti-FGM board CEO Bernadette Loloju among others.

"Objections and representations (through sworn affidavits) should be submitted within 14 days of publication of this Notice," Angwenyi said.

Those with views have been advised to submit through hand delivery to the office of the Chief Executive Officer, National Heroes Council, Mezzanine Floor, Embankment Plaza in UpperHill.

They can also do so via Email: [email protected], [email protected] or via post.

The National Heroes council was established by the Kenya Heroes Act No 5 of 2014.

It is mandated to identify, select and provide recognition for national heroes and heroines.
