Police probe five suicide incidents in separate regions

Detectives are probing five separate cases of death by suicide.

According to detectives, the cases were reported in Nairobi, Taita Taveta, Lamu, Nakuru and Nyeri.

The first case was reported in Kamulu area, Nairobi, where a boy was found hanging on a rope tied around his neck inside his parents’ bathroom.

According to police, a suicide note was recovered, but the contents were not revealed.

Police officers from Kamulu Police Station visited the scene.

They found the body with small cut wounds probably from sharp objects on both hands.

The body was moved to the Kenyatta University morgue for postmortem.

The second incident was reported in llole, Taita Taveta.

In the incident, a 45-year-old man identified as Granton Ngulo Mwandango, died suicide after hanging himself with a mosquito net rope tied around his neck on one of the roof rafters of his house.

No suicide note was recovered, police said.

Detectives from Mwatete police station visited the scene.

The body was moved to Moi County Teaching and Referral Hospital for preservation and postmortem.

Similarly, in Mpeketoni village, Lamu, Michael Nganga a 65-year-old man also died by suicide after hanging himself with a manila rope tied around his neck from one of the roof rafters of an unfinished house.

No suicide note was found, and the motive of the incident is unknown.

Mpeketoni police officers processed the scene.

The body had no visible injuries and was moved to Mpeketoni Subcounty Hospital mortuary for preservation and postmortem.

Meanwhile in Nakuru, Bahati, a 23-year-old man identified as Dennis Wanjala Nyongesa, died suicide after hanging himself using a sisal rope tied around his neck on a tree.

Preliminary investigations by police established the deceased was suffering from a mental disorder.

No suicide note was found, police said.

Police officers processed the scene the body was moved to Nakuru Annex Mortuary for post-mortem.

Elsewhere in Nyeri, Tetu division, an unknown 25-year-old male also died by suicide after hanging himself using a white bed sheet tied around his neck from one of the roof rafters of his rental house.

Police officers visited and processed the scene and the body was moved to Nyeri Referral Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

The case remains under investigation.
