The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, has laid the foundation stone for a new passport issuance center in Boondheere district of the Benadir Region, in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Speaking during the event, Barre commended the Director General of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency, Ahmed Said Mohamed, as well as other leaders and staff members for their dedication and efforts in enhancing passport service delivery.

He emphasized the importance of making government services accessible to the people.

"I would like to thank the leaders and staff of the agency who are always working to enhance and develop it. They have built a large, modern central facility, and this will be constructed beautifully and effectively as we have seen before. This demonstrates their commitment to serving the Somali people," the Prime Minister said.

This center will be operated by the Immigration and Citizenship Agency of Somalia.

The PM urged the agency's staff to serve the community efficiently, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing essential services to the public.

Director General, Ahmed Mohamed, also assured attendees that the agency would continue to deliver services to the people of Somalia, with plans to extend their reach to all regions of the country.

"I want to assure the people of Somalia that our agency is committed to providing exceptional services and that we are determined to extend our reach to every corner of the country. We will continue to work hard to meet the needs of our citizens, ensuring that no one is left behind," he said.

The passport center is the latest of a series of centers that have been launched to help citizens acquire passports with ease in the country.

The event was attended by notable figures, including the Minister of Internal Security, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag, and the Governor of Benadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Madaale.
