A review of KRA’s website established that it had no such vacancy as of 10 September 2024.

In Summary
  • Prospective applicants are required to have a diploma/degree from a recognised institution.
  • The poster alleges that successful applicants will receive a monthly salary of KSh55,850. Other benefits listed are health insurance, rent, and commuter allowances.

The document claims KRA is hiring 1,650 graduate trainees to work in 34 of the country’s 47 counties.

Prospective applicants are required to have a diploma/degree from a recognised institution.

The poster alleges that successful applicants will receive a monthly salary of KSh55,850. Other benefits listed are health insurance, rent, and commuter allowances.

The contract is purportedly for three years, with possible employment on permanent and pensionable terms.

Job seekers are directed to send CVs and cover letters to the email address provided. They are cautioned not to send copies of their certificates.

The poster was also shared here and here.

But is the poster authentic?

First, the shared Outlook email address is suspicious as it is not official. KRA’s official email addresses end with .go.ke, for instance, [email protected]

Moreover, a review of KRA’s website established that it had no such vacancy as of 10 September 2024.

A review of KRA’s X (formerly Twitter) account and Facebook page established that the tax collection agency did not share the poster.

PesaCheck contacted KRA on X and established that the poster was fake.

“Kindly note it is a scam, our domain is http://Kra.go.ke and all available opportunities including management trainee are posted in our recruitment portal. Visit http://erecruitment.kra.go.ke | https://kra.go.ke/en/careers and check for any available opportunities,” KRA said.

On 7 September 2024, KRA flagged the poster and cautioned the public to remain vigilant.

“Attention job seekers! Kindly note that KRA only posts job vacancies on our official website Beware of fraudsters,” KRA posted.

PesaCheck examined a poster on Facebook supposedly advertising graduate trainee vacancies at KRA and found it to be a HOAX.

This post is part of an ongoing series of PesaCheck fact-checks examining content marked as potential misinformation on Facebook and other social media platforms.
